Establishment of Branch Office for A Foreign Company / Firm In Pakistan

- Approval is generally given for a Branch Office against specific contracts awarded to a foreign company. The branch office is not allowed to indulge in any business other than that necessitated by the terms of the contracts.
- Branch Office of a foreign is required to be registered with and / or obtain permission from the following agencies.
- Ministry of Investment and Board of Investment, Government of Pakistan, Karachi / Islamabad, for obtaining renewable permission to establish a Branch Office in Pakistan.
- Registrar of Companies, Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Karachi / Islamabad as a Branch Office of a Foreign Company.
- The Brach Office would exist for the period of the contract. However, its closure is to be documented in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Ordinance, 1984.
- The Branch Office would be able to employ staff and exist as an entity for all other purposes. The Branch Office, however, would not be allowed to carry out my business other than the allowed under the terms of the contract and approval granted by the Board of Investment.
- Repatriation of capital and profit is allowed.
